Our Team
We are committed to making fitness fun, fresh, and empowering. Our amazing team collaborates to deliver inclusive classes, training, and education.

Sarah Rainey-Smithback
Dr. Sarah is the founder of The Movement. She came to fitness later in life, seeking relief from perimenopause and to manage mental health, but fell in love with strength training and cardio drumming.
Sarah is a Trauma-Informed (Hope Ignited) Certified Personal Trainer (NASM). For group fitness, she is certified to teach cardio drumming and MOSSA Group Power.
Sarah's energy is welcoming, very nonjudgmental, curious, and optimistic. She loves working with everyone, but as a person with multiple disabilities she is especially passionate about empowering other "crips." She is obsessed with music and loves finding music for clients that get them in their workout zone.
Dr. Sarah also holds a Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD in Women's Studies, and has taught for over 20 years. She is an accomplished author and lecturer on topics related sexuality, disability, and gender.

Mike Rainey-Smithback
Mike is our "everything guy." For The Movement, he is our general contractor, facilities manager, customer service rep, emotional support, and creative problem solver. Mike holds a PhD in Chemistry, and joins The Movement with years of teaching experience and project management.
Mike is always up for an adventure, and loves all sorts of movement, including strength training, climbing, tennis, and swimming.

Gena Collier
Gena is a lifelong learner and a professional development educator, and she coaches the way she teaches: clearly, compassionately, and with a healthy habit of questioning the rules that don’t serve us. Educationally, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction, and is currently completing a PhD in Foundations of Education. In class, you can expect smart coaching, real options, and a vibe that’s supportive, not judgey. Equal parts empowering and practical!
According to Gena, “consistency shouldn’t feel like a chore!” And she brings both experience and curiosity to fitness, keeping things interesting. Gena is a certified personal trainer, barre instructor, mat Pilates instructor, and has been a yoga instructor for 10 years, and also operates independently through Yoga with Gena. She is especially passionate about myofascial, vinyasa, and aerial yoga.

Sabrina Furgeson
Sabrina is a newly certified personal trainer (ISSA) who is also currently pursuing a women's coaching certification (Girls Gone Strong). She has been a licensed advanced esthetician and makeup artist for over 10 years, utilizing her passion for helping people feel confident in their skin.
Sabrina has always enjoyed movement through sports and play, but as she reached perimenopause she began to appreciate the importance of regular exercise and especially strength. As a trainer, she aspires to help clients feel supported and empowered and to share how exercise can improve one's health.
